What Are Anchor Tags?

Anchor Tags are used like bookmarks throughout your site. You can set links on your site to bring your users to specific sections of specific pages, and helps a user to find the exact information that they are interested in.

To set up Anchor tags on your site:

  • On the 'Content Explorer' side of Site Stacker, navigate to the 'Static' folder. Right-click 'Static' and click 'Add New Item' to create a new Static content item.
  • In the Body text field of the new Static item, click the Anchor icon on the tool bar. When inserting this new anchor, name it in a way that will let you know what section it should link to. Follow this example (including the punctuation):

  • Once you have inserted this anchor, hit 'Save & Close'. You can then click and drag this new static item containing your anchor over to the 'Site Plan' side, into the page where you want to direct a user to. You can drag this anchor static item to sit above the particular section you would like this anchor to direct to.
  • Now that the anchor is set, the next step is to link to this anchor. If you have a menu item, or a hyperlink on a page, you can easily direct these to point to your anchor by editing their URL in the following way:

  • It is important to have the # symbol and to list the anchor's name exactly. Now when you click on that hyper link, you should be directed to the page and position that the anchor is set up on.
